University of Utah electrical and computer engineering Ph.D. students Avishan Bagherinezhad and Alejandro Palomino have been featured alongside other great minds of the U in the Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute’s 2021 Student Innovation @ The U.
This recognition comes from the pairs work researching opportunities to reduce pollution with electric public transportation. Their latest proposal is to implement a spatial-temporal co-optimization of bus transit and power systems with battery electric buses (BEBs) that could remain affordable and be deployed without derailing transit schedules.

The annual publication highlights University of Utah students impacting technology, health, community, software and apps, research, design, fashion and beauty, history, sustainability, arts and entertainment.
