On Friday, May 7, the College of Engineering hosted an in-person Convocation Ceremony at the Rice Eccles Stadium to honor and celebrate the graduating Class of 2021. Students from the Class of 2020, who were not able to have an in-person commencement amid the COVID-19 pandemic were also encouraged to attend.
Although it was not a complete return to normal, students were allowed to bring up to four guests to support them during this momentous occasion. Those who were unable to attend the in-person event were able to participate virtually.
University of Utah College of Engineering Dean Richard B. Brown led the event and awarded students their diplomas. Despite unexpected rain and high winds the evening of the event, each student was recognized for their outstanding work and accomplishments.
