Hundreds of high school students from Utah and around the country attended the annual College of Engineering “Engineering Day” event Saturday, Nov. 13. The event exposes students to different engineering disciples and gives them a taste of the exciting possibilities a career in engineering can offer.
The half-day activity is the largest outreach event put on by the University of Utah’s College of Engineering and was held in person for the first time in two years. More than 700 students and their parents attended this year’s Engineering Day, which included fun demonstrations and presentations by faculty from the college.
Faculty and students from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering presented their research in neural networks, nanotechnologies, wearable electronics, solar energy and more. Students were also given tours of ECE’s state-of-the-art labs and interacted with demonstrations like computer-human interfaces used in operating prosthetics.
