Stanford University recently released an updated list of the top two percent most-cited scientists in various disciplines. Included in the list are 12 current Electrical and Computer Engineering faculty members. This recognition highlights the exceptional scholarly achievements of our faculty and their ongoing commitment to serving the world through research. 

“The ECE department brings together world-renowned faculty, with research programs that are followed and cited by researchers around the world,” said ECE Associate Professor Masood Parvania. “We are proud of our faculty who are among the top researchers in the world in their respective areas.”

The report was prepared by a team of experts led by Prof. John Ioannidis, the eminent Professor at Stanford University, and includes scientists globally from a range of fields. The database of over 100,000 scientists provides a publicly available database of top scientists and an updated analysis from previously released versions. The rankings are based on citations from the August 2021 Scopus and assess scientists on their career-long citation impact until the end of 2019 and their citation impact during the single calendar year 2019.

The database provides standardized information on citations, h-index, co-authorship-adjusted hm-index, citations to papers in different authorship positions, and a composite indicator. Both the updated databases and code have been made freely available.
