Each year the Career and Professional Development Center at the University of Utah celebrates faculty, staff, alumni, and employers’ positive contributions to students’ career development through the Career Impact Awards. Award recipients are nominated, by the campus community, for one of four award categories, Career Champions of the Year, Employer of the year, Alumni Career Mentor of the Year and Internships of the year.
Electrical and computer engineering professor Angela Rasmussen and assistant professor Mingxi Liu are two of ten campus-wide individuals named Career Champions of the Year. This award is given to a faculty or advisor who helped their students discover a career passion, took the time to help them find resources or introduced them to a new possibility. These faculty have gone above and beyond in supporting their student’s career preparedness.
The Alumni Career Mentor of the Year is a U alum who has provided exemplary career support to a current U student through informational interviews, job shadowing, career advice or professional networking opportunities. The 2022 recipient is electrical and computer engineering Alumni Ronnie Boutte. Boutte graduated with a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering in 2018 before beginning his career with Varex Imaging, where he has served as a mentor to those around him, providing knowledge, resources and experience to better their careers.
Congratulations to each of this year’s recipients! Your exceptional efforts are vital to our campus community and enhance each student’s education, setting them up for successful futures. To view a full list of recipients for each category, click here.
