Ritaja Das, a PhD student in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at the University of Utah, has received significant recognition for her groundbreaking research in modern cryptography circuits. Under the mentorship of Professor Priyank Kalla, Das has concentrated on the synthesis, testing, and verification of data-path designs. Her recent paper, “Heuristics Based on Combinatorial Optimization for Debugging Digital Circuits,” presents innovative heuristics to identify critical debug points in digital circuits. This research addresses a pressing need in the field, outlining methods to rectify errors in buggy circuits and enhancing the reliability of cryptographic systems.
Das’s paper earned one of the two Best Paper Awards at the recent 28th IEEE International Symposium on VLSI Design and Test (VDAT-2024), highlighting her impact and relevance in digital circuit design and debugging. This accolade is particularly noteworthy as it marks Das’s first publication as the lead author, signifying a promising start to her academic career.
