As representative (and co-founder) of Blackrock Neurotech, ECE endowed professor Florian Solzbacher presented Blackrock Neurotech’s revolutionary work in brain computer interfaces (BCI) at an ECE Social Hour. Students, industry, and academics in attendance enjoyed learning about Blackrock’s work to grant paralytics and amputees access to artificial limbs that can articulate and sense. It was an inspiring presentation for all involved, reminding attendees how dedicated engineers can push the boundaries of science for the betterment of the world.
After the presentation, a lunch of pizza and ice cream was provided by the ECE Department. Students gathered and socialized while Solzbacher continued to answer questions for the remainder of the hour.
This was a wonderful opportunity that allowed students to make industry connections and learn about BCIs from an industry leader. We are fortunate to have Solzbacher furthering this field through his research and teaching at the University of Utah.
Our thanks to Blackrock Neurotech for their sponsorship and commitment to student engagement.
