4+1 Program

Save time and money by taking graduate-level courses during your senior year — paying the undergraduate tuition rate with scholarships and financial aid (if applicable) — and then complete your Master’s the next year.

For eligible students to complete their Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering and a Master’s of Electrical & Computer Engineering in five years

Steps


Students seeking to take advantage of the 4+1 program must first meet current University of Utah undergraduate admission standards, be accepted into the BS Electrical Engineering (EE) or Computer Engineering (CE) major and be in good standing within the major.

During your junior or senior year:

  • Meet with your undergrad advisor to finish planning out your BS degree. If you have space in your schedule, plan to take up to 6 credits of graduate-level coursework.

During your final undergraduate semester:

Students who do not meet the requirements for either program can still look into completing graduate-level coursework either as a non-matriculated student or as a traditional MS student. Contact the Graduate Student Coordinator for specific advisement.
